Black Power Mixtape

  • Levine Museum of the New South 200 E 7th St Charlotte, NC, 28202 United States (map)

The Museum hosts an abridged viewing of Black Power Mixtape, a film that examines the evolution of the Black Power Movement in American society from 1967 to 1975. It features the found footage shot by a group of Swedish journalists (discovered some 30 years later) along with commentaries from leading contemporary African-American artists, activists, musicians and scholars. The film will be followed by a dialogue with local DJs, music historians and film makers and include era and contemporary music as we explore and track the movement across several decades. Part of the Freedom Forum series.

Free to attend. Registration required.
