Did you know – in 1970 there were no women in elected office in Charlotte?  No women in TV news?  Meet two leaders in the generation who opened doors in Charlotte during the 1970s and 1980s -- Betty Chafin Rash, first woman elected to City Council, and Bea Thompson, first African American female TV anchor in Charlotte.  And staff historian Dr. Tom Hanchett sets the stage with slides from our 2005 award winning exhibit Purses, Platforms & Power.
